The Studio has been an icon for years, a complete, accessible practice organ with a fantastic sound. Its compact console with a fully-fledged 2.1 audio system provides every organist with endless practice enjoyment. The style-variable stoplist also consists exclusively of authentic pipe organ stops from Kampen, Amsterdam, Dresden, and Raalte, as well as Paris. This enables organists, whatever music they play, to bring every stop to life in the right style; from historical to baroque, and from romantic to symphonic.
The Studio is an accessible and complete instrument with a stunning sound. This organ was designed to make the pipe organ accessible – an essential mission for Johannus. That’s why they chose a style-variable stoplist packed with stops from five authentic pipe organs. This brings the pipe organ within the reach of both professional as well as hobby organists.
The Studio has a standard stoplist that includes only stops from real pipe organs. For instance, the romantic style only has stops from the Vater-Müller organ from the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam and the organist can hear the Hinsz organ sounds from the Bovenkerk in Kampen in the historical sample style. Adema (Raalte) and Cavaillé-Coll (Paris) can be heard in the symphonic style and the baroque style comes to life in the Silbermann organ from the Katholische Hofkirche in Dresden. The stops combined with a realistic wind model and true-to-life convolution reverb complete the organ experience.
The Studio has four organ styles: romantic, symphonic, baroque and historical. Each style has stops from specific historical pipe organs. To best showcase each style, a stoplist was chosen in which stops are linked specifically to a particular style, which is why some stop tabs have a double engraving. For instance the symphonic set offers organists a Flûte Harmonique, while the Quintadeen can be heard via the same stop tab in the romantic, baroque and historical set. The baroque set’s swell division also has a complete principal chorus and the treble and the carillon can be heard in the historical set. The Studio cleverly interprets the unique sounds of each style. Practising was never so much fun or realistic.
As well as the sampled pipe organ stops, the Studio also has two high-quality and natural solo stops. The organist can choose pan flute or trumpet, depending on the requirement for a warm or, alternatively, a powerful sound. The solo stops can be accessed via pistons beneath the manual.
The Studio has an extremely advanced convolution reverb, developed in-house; an ingenious technology that results in the organ using up to as many as 48,000 samples per second. The more samples, the more detailed the sound reproduction. Our extremely precise reverb recordings in world-renowned churches provide a wealth of information. The Studio showcases all this information down to the very smallest detail. When pressing a key, each individual tone is enriched with the selected reverb. The organ has a total of twelve recorded acoustics from twelve different churches, varying in length.
The ambiance option in the Studio’s menu enables the 12 available convolution reverbs to be set from different listening positions. Musicians who prefer being right on the organ bench, close to the real pipe organ, can choose to have the original sound dominate, so they can hear the authentic sound of pipes being blown. Those who prefer to hear how it sounds in the middle, or behind, simply use the menu to switch the sound.
The Studio console design is sleek and compact. The organ is available in four colours (Light Riverside, Charcoal Black, Nautilus Teak, and Wengé), making it a great match for any interior. As the console also takes up hardly any space, the Studio is at home in every living room.
The Studio is based on OrangeCore+ technology, which allows for a superb sound experience. The convolution reverb is programmed on an advanced Digital Signal Processor (DSP), which obtains the best out of every sound. The new digital mixer also ensures unprecedented sound quality. For organists who prefer using headphones, the Studio offers a compelling stereo experience. The technology, therefore, contributes in every respect to true-to-life and detailed sound reproduction.
To offer organists a stunning sound reproduction, the Studio has a high-quality 2.1 audio system. The powerful sub-woofer produces a convincing bass sound. But the specific character of the Flute 4’ of the Bovenkerk in Kampen also really comes to life. In the full breadth of the sound spectrum, every single stop is rendered flawlessly.
The Studio's high audio and sample quality provide a realistic pipe organ experience. Meanwhile, the instrument remains a faithful study friend. Whether you’re practicing for an organ lesson or preparing to accompany congregational singing, the Studio is always there for you. It starts up so quickly and the reliable technology provides many years of practice enjoyment. It is the very best practice organ an organist could wish for.
The time has finally come. We are thrilled to introduce our new Studio series. Our Studio organs are completely renewed and have an audio system with subwoofer and a style-variable stoplist with 4 sample styles. All samples are stop-by-stop recorded from authentic pipe organs.
